Huge fans of the hit Nickelodeon series "SpongeBob SquarePants" will definitely rejoice over the fact that a sequel to the 2004 film is currently in the works.
As such, the first official trailer for the film which is aptly called "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" has already been released.
The video clip featured SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends taking on a group of pirates who are in search of the last page of a book that can make all their evil plans come true, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
"The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water", which serves as the sequel to the "SpongeBob SquarePants" film that was first released ten years ago, will be shown in 3D this coming February 6, 2015, under Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon.
"The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" is directed by series director and executive producer Paul Tibbitt and is written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, the same writers who co-wrote "Kung FU Panda 2," Variety reported.
Some of the actors tapped to give life to the well-loved characters on next year's film include Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, Carolyn Lawrence, Clancy Brown, Mr. Lawrence and Antonio Banderas, the same publication revealed.
Kenny will be playing the character of SpongeBob and Gary the Snail, while Fagerbakke will be playing the role of Patrick Star. Bumpass will give life to the character of Squidward and Brown will play the role of Mr. Krabs, Variety confirmed.
Banderas will give life to the character of Alameda Jack, a villainous pirate captain who will serve as SpongeBob's worst enemy in the film, according to Daily Digest News.
In an attempt to thwart Jack's plans and save their residence, Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob and his friends, particularly Patrick Star, Squidward and Mr. Krabs, will journey from the beaches to the real world to complete their mission.
Along the way, they will be faced with countless trials that they would have to surpass if they wish to overcome the enemy.
