"The Maze Runner's" new trailer was released by 20th Century Fox. The film is an adaptation of James Dashner's bestselling novel, the first of three books comprising a post-apocalyptic science-fiction tale for young adults published in 2009.

"The Maze Runner" new trailer begins with lead character Thomas's, portrayed by Dylan O'Brien of the Teen Wolf fame (Hollywood Life), waking up inside a rusty underground elevator that is quickly ascending. Struggling with memory loss, he does not know what to make out of his situation.

Finally, the elevator reaches its destination. When its top opens, a group of teenage boys looking down at him comes into view. One of them jumps inside and helps him up. Once he gets out of the elevator, the sight of the huge maze surrounding the Glade greets him.

The series of events that follow gives viewers a glimpse of the cryptic danger in the form of the Grievers, which lies in wait for the hapless boys trapped inside the maze. Hollywood Life reported that the boys' purpose is to get out. However, with the presence of the Grievers combined with the constantly changing layout of the intricate labyrinth, no one has been fortunate enough to escape death.

But Thomas, along with Teresa (Kaya Scodelario) - the only girl who became a Glader, defies the rules and strives to uncover the mystery behind the dangers confronting them.

According to First Showing, although "The Maze Runner" new trailer seems to hint at something similar to "The Hunger Games," it has its own unique thrills to keep viewers glued to their seats. Wes Ball makes his directorial debut with this movie.

The engaging sequence of scenes featured in the clip has viewers holding their breaths. With their interest piqued, they can expect more heart-pounding action once the mystery unfolds in theaters on September 19, 2014.
