"American Idol" judge Keith Urban has finally opened up following a series of unfortunate events during his recent concert in Massachusetts.
Earlier this week, approximately 22 people were hospitalized due to a range of alcohol-related problems and a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an 18-year-old stranger outside the concert venue, according to Zee News India.
"My team and I were horrified to learn of the events reported in Boston this past weekend and our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected. This type of behavior stands in stark contrast to the spirit of our shows," Urban said in a statement.
Following the incident, 18-year-old Sean Murphy was arrested by police officials but his defense attorney, Neil Crowley, clarified that his client was not charged with anything.
"This was a consensual act, not a sexual assault. There are no allegations of force or violence against him. This was a private act that regrettably occurred in a public place. The young woman was neither intoxicated nor overcome by drugs at the time. Mr. Murphy deeply regrets this incident, and I'm sure the young woman does as well," Crowley said in a statement.
Other than the rape case, at least 22 concertgoers were also given medical care after they suffered from a range of alcohol-related problems, the Daily Mail reported.
One fan who attended the concert wrote a comment on SavingCountryMusic website and relayed seeing one teenager vomiting uncontrollably on the lawn. According to the commenter, several other attendees who were drunk, couldn't keep their heads up from vomiting too much.
Meanwhile, Mansfield county Chairman of the Board of Selectman George Dentino, who was at the concert commended the police officials who responded to the calls of the concert attendees, according to HNGN.
"I know Urban made a statement on YouTube but he'd probably left town by the time the investigators were coming to light. We have not heard from him," Dentino said.
