Alan Pardew is hoping to sign Facundo Ferreyra but he is also ready to move on from any bid to bring Loic Remy back to Newscastle United.
Remy had been able to score 14 goals in 26 of his Premier League appearances on loan at Newcastle from Queens Park Rangers last season and has been linked with a return to St James' Park.
The proposed move by the France international to Liverpool was forfeited last week after Remy failed a medical and Pardew confirmed afterward that he would monitor the situation. Pardew, however, has suggested now will be a good timing for Newcastle to draw a line through their chances of gaining Remy back.
"We've not really had much contact with Loic and I don't see that evolving, if I'm honest," said Pardew. He said that whatever happened in Liverpool is irrelevant for certain because Remy had plenty of chances to come with them.
"We've made it clear we'd want to have him but it hasn't really happened and therefore you sometimes have to stay where the line is drawn for us as a club as we have our own respect and our own professionalism."
"So maybe that one has gone away but like all transfers they're never, ever over so we'll keep our finger on the pulse."
He, Alan Pardew, to whatever circumstance, is keen to finalize a deal to take Facundo Ferreyra on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk. He added: "It's something that is not done, but we're working on to see if that can happen."
He also admitted that Ferreyra is a good presence on the pitch, and has a record of doing well in the Ukraine.
"If we manage to secure him, he would be a player who we'd expect to do a lot better here."
