Hamilton Boss Alex Neil Admits His Side Needs More Improvement To Make A Winning Start On The Scottish Premiership

Alex Neil, manager of Hamilton admits that his side needs more improvement and will have to train harder if they are to make a winning start on their comeback next week to the Scottish Premiership.

Accies was able take on and bag their victory against League Two side Arbroath 2-1 in League Cup first round. It was Dougie Imrie and Louis Longridge who were able to score the goals. Neil, however, says that Inverness will present a much tougher assignment on Saturday.

They are through to the next round of the Cup, but as Neil have said, they are going to have to pick up the pace of their game for next week. "You find that good players tend to rise to the occasion and I'm hoping that will be the case next week."

Despite the win, Neil is still keen to conditioning the players into their fullest potentials and fitness as preparations for their upcoming games.

"I thought we totally controlled the match. They got a goal against the run of play once we had brought some of the younger boys on."

He said he was disappointed with the last five minutes of the game, but nonetheless, they were in control of the game and had a lot of the ball. "It was just a case of breaking down a team that was well-organized and sat in and made it as difficult as they could."

Arbroath boss Allan Moore also said that they have played opposition who are a couple of leagues above them and they knew it would be difficult coming there.

"I'm disappointed that we went a goal down so early in the game but I'm proud of the boys for the way they stuck by the task."
