Which smartphone is the better purchase? We pit the Blackberry Z3 against Motorola's Moto G to see which device is worth buying.

In terms of design and display, the BlackBerry Z3 ha a 5 inch IPS LCD display, with a resolution of 540x 960 pixels and has a pixel density of 220 ppi, while the Motorola Moto G has a smaller IPS LCD display measuring 4.5 inch and a resolution of 720x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 329 ppi.

The BlackBerry Z3 has a robust frame, like all the other BlackBerry phones as the back of the unit seems to be a rubberized one because of the textured plastic that the back panel is made of. The front of it consists smooth glass with not so much bezel space encompassing the display. The thickness of the BlackBerry unit is 0.36 inch, and the weighs 164 grams.

Meanwhile, the Motorila Moto G’s front has an edged HD display and a plastic body. The new model of Moto G(2014)has also a water-resistant coating for a supplemental protection, inside and outside, but Its protection has no IP67 certification. It weighs 143 grams and has a thickness of 0.46 inch.

For the hardware and OS, the Motorola Motto G has a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon400 Cortex A-17 processor that runs at 1.2 GHz. It has a memory of 1GB of RAM and runs on Android OS ( 2013 model operates on Android OS v4.3, and the 2014 model operates on Android OS v4.4.2).

The Black Berry Z3 on the other hand is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Krait processor, that also runs at 1.2 GhZ. It has a 1.5GB of RAM and operates on the BlackBerry v10.2.1 OS.

The internal storage of the Moto G varieties between 8 GB and 16GB, and it does not support micro SD card. Although, users with a new model Moto G (2014) can expand its memory to 32GB because it supports a microSD slot. The BlackBerry Z3 has an internal storage of only 8GB, it can be increased to 32GB with a microSD card.

For battery usage and camera specs, Both smartphones have the same cameras, having a main camera of 5MP and LED flash. The difference is made by the secondary camera, which is a 1.3 MP camera for Moto G and a 1.1MP camera for BlackBerry Z3.
They also have non-removable batteries. The BlackBerry has a 2500mAh one, while the Motorola Moto G has a Li-Ion 2070mAh one (this one has a lower quality the the BlackBerry one).

The BlackBerry Z3 battery runs for 15 Hours in talk time and 389 Hours in stand-by Time, while the Motorola Moto G battery runs for 24 Hours, respective 336 Hours.

Another similarity between the two is that both of them have an USB, a Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11, micro-sim support and neither of them has a Micro HDMI port, (except one of the BlackBerry models, the BlackBerry Z10). Some models of Moto G supports dual-sim mode, while the BlackBerry does not.

The Motorola Moto G cost $195.00, while the BlackBerry Z3 is around $279.00.
