Mike Tyson news reveals "Ray" star Jamie Foxx will star in a biopic about "Iron Mike." The former heavyweight world champion also confirmed that filming would begin in 18 months.

In a report by entertainment website Variety, the film's producers are looking to illustrate Mike Tyson's life, from his humble beginnings as an up and coming boxer from Catskill, New York, to the trial and tribulations he had gone through, including his bankruptcy and the death of his daughter.

"Sources tell Variety that Foxx is attached to play Mike Tyson in an untitled biopic that Terence Winter is set to pen," wrote reporter Justin Kroll. "Rick Yorn, who is Foxx's manager, is shepherding the project and will produce."

"The package is still coming together and is currently without a studio, but once the final details are ironed out and it is presented to the market, it shouldn't be hard to interest a distributor," he continued.

Mike Tyson news also reveals that Jamie Foxx had wanted to play the role of the man who is considered as the "Baddest Man on the Planet" for several years already. In his appearance on Live with Kelly and Michael in May, the "Ray" star relayed his intent to take on the role.

"I think that story would be fantastic," Foxx said. "And I actually gained 225 pounds to do a role at one point. And I had my makeup artist dress me up as Mike Tyson, and I was in Toronto, and people were literally coming up asking for autographs. So hopefully, Mike, if you're listening, let's make history."

Mike Tyson news also reveals that the former heavyweight champion himself confirmed has been in talks with Jamie Foxx regarding the project.

"Listen, me and Jamie Foxx are in discussions and within a year or 18 months we're going to do the Mike Tyson Story," Tyson said in an interview with IGN.
