"Frozen" co-writer Jennifer Lee will be writing a screenplay based on the Disney Classic book "A Wrinkle in Time," that Disney will recreate into a film in the coming years.
"A Wrinkle in Time" follows the life of two siblings and their friend who traveled throughout time and space in search for their missing father. The books come with four installments, including "Time Quartet," "A Wind in the Door," "Many Waters" and "A Swiftly Tilting Planet," according to TIME.
The story coincidentally is one of Lee's most favorite children's books while growing up, the same publication noted.
As of late, no director has been tapped to film "A Wrinkle in Time" and it is still uncertain whether or not Lee will also be directing the classic, The Guardian reported.
However, Jeff Stockwell was previously tapped to tackle the screenplay when it was first announced back in 2010, according to Variety.
Jim Whitaker will be producing the film alongside Catherine Hand, the same publication noted. This, however, is not the first time that Whitaker will be producing "A Wrinkle in Time." Back in 2003, he produced the same-titled show for ABC.
"A Wrinkle in Time" is a 1962 Madeleine L'Engle story that has received numerous recognitions throughout the years. The book has earned the Newbery medal, Sequoyah book award and the Lewis Carroll Shelf award. L'Engle died in 2007 at the age of 88, The Guardian noted.
Meanwhile, Lee will continue on with her role as part of Walt Disney Animation's story trust and will be actively involved in several projects being developed by the company, while she's busy writing the screenplay of "A Wrinkle in Time," according to Variety.
Some of previous works include writing for Disney's very own "Wreck-It-Ralph" and a whole lot more. Lee is represented by CAA and Code Entertainment.
