Jack Colback is positive that Newcastle's summer signings will be of help and an excellent opportunity for Alan Pardew's side to challenge higher contenders on the Premier League table.
So far, Newcastle has seven new signings brought at the St James' Park on a free transfer; and midfielder Colback is one of them.
The seven also includes Siem de Jong, Ayoze Perez, Remy Cabella, Daryl Janmaat, Emmanuel Riviere, and Facundo Ferreyra. This new signings are Pardew's way in an attempt to work on Newcastle's 10th-place finish last season.
Colback believes that the 10th place is the least of their targets as they are aiming higher for this season. The midfielder is backed by his fellow new arrivals at the club and looks forward to the same goal.
"It's looking good. This is a club looking to go to places."
"We've got to be looking at a minimum top-10 finish and then push on to get around the Tottenhams and Evertons and be able to compete against the top four or five teams.
Colback believes that the club's aces lie on the new arrivals that have been brought in by the manager. The 24-year-old is also keen to the idea of getting Newcastle supporters on his side following his move from Sunderland-where he started his career as a footballer.
"There might be a bit more pressure [due to] the fact I've come from Sunderland," he added.
"I've got to try to turn the fans' heads at Newcastle and win them over. It's something I'm relishing."
