Which smartphone worth the purhase? We pit the Gionee Elife S5.5 against the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo to see which device is better.

For the design and display, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo has an AMOLED display that measures 5.5 inches, and a resolution of 720x1280pixels and 267ppi. Its dimensions are 148.4×77.4×8.6 mm and it weighs over 162 grams, but it feels comfortable to hold in one hand.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 on the other hand has a 5 inches display and it’s a Full-HD Super AMOLED, with the resolution of 1080x1920pixels and 441ppi. It is the slimmest phone in the world, measuring only 5.5 mm, 145.1 mm tall and has a width of 70.2 mm. It also weighs 133 grams because of the magnesium and glass alloy used for the display.

In terms of hardware and OS, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A7 & 1.7GHz dual-core Cortex A15 processor and it features an Exynos 5260 chipset and a Mali-T624 GPU. Its internal memory has a capacity of 16GB which is expandable fo up to 64GB, and the phone runs on the Android v4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS with 2GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, the Gionee Elife S5.5 is powered by an Octa-core 1.7GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, and has a Mediatek MT6592 chipset and a Mali-450MP4 GPU. It has 2GB of RAM and the internal storage isn’t expandable, being only of 16GB. The smartphone runs on the Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean)OS, which is upgradable to the 4.4.2 (KitKat) version.

For the battery usage and camera specs, the battery on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo is replaceable and has a capacity of 3100mAh, which allow users to talk for 18 hours on 3G.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 has a non-removable battery with a capacity of only 2300mAh, which allows users to talk around 11 hours on 3G.

The Samsung unit has an 8MP rear camera with features such as autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, image stabilization, HDR, panorama, face & smile detection, 3264x 2448pixels, video recording 1080p@30fps with stereo sound rec. etc. The secondary camera is 2MP. User will get good quality images, but don’t rely on the LED flash, because it’s not that powerful.

The Gionee smartphone has a rear camera of 13MP, with features such as HDR, 4160x3120pixels, autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, geo-tagging, panorama, face & smile detection, video recording 1080p@30fps; + a 5MP camera on the front.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo cost around $300 in amazon.com, while the Gionee Elife S5.5 is around $310.
