Robin Williams' death happened on the night of August 11th, with CNN as one of the news outlets to report the news. The 63-year old actor was found lifeless in his Northern California home, with law enforcement officials concluding that the cause of death was a suicide.

Marin County Sheriff's Office suspects that Robin Williams' death was caused by asphyxia, in a report filed by coroner investigators.

"He has been battling severe depression of late," Williams' media representative Mara Buxbaum said. "This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time."

Before Robin Williams' death, he was married to graphic designer Susan Schneider in October 2011.

Schneider gave her statements regarding her husband's passing, but at the same time, requested for fans and the media to give her and the rest of the family their due privacy.

"This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings," Schneider said in a statement. "I am utterly heartbroken."

"On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief," she added. "As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."

Fellow comedian Steve Martin addressed his sentiments through his Twitter account, saying: "I could not be more stunned by the loss of Robin Williams, mensch, great talent, acting partner, genuine soul."
