Mark Cooper, Swindon boss commended his side's outstanding performance despite their defeat in a match against Luton 2-1 in the Capital One Cup.

Luke Rooney's penalty was cancelled out by Michael Smith's double and saw the Robins secure their place in the second round. Rooney was sent off late on for a second bookable offence as he was deemed to have dived in the area.

"I thought it was an outstanding performance. The main thing we take is we kept going and kept to our principles, even though we're a goal down, we just kept going." Cooper said.

He said that he thought they had dominated possession the entire game only did they miss a couple of really good chances. "It looked a dubious penalty, but we kept passing the ball, made Luton Town run and in the end, I thought we wore them out and that's why we got the goal," he added.

"That's utopia, that's what you're after. It comes from working them side to side and that's how you get the goal, it was lovely ball from Massimo (Luongo) and a great finish from Michael."

"That's four goals in two games, I'm sure his price tag is going up."

John Still, the Luton boss admitted that he had not seen the incident that saw Rooney dismissed for alleged simulation.

"I didn't see it and I would be lying if I did, but their lads said it was a penalty." He said.

"I know it's easy for them to say afterwards, but they were saying they clipped him."

"I actually think he might have said it to the referee, but there's nothing we can do about it."

"I'm back to the old sayings, only control the controllable. We can't do anything about the referee, if he was clipped it was disappointing, but we move on."

"I wanted to look at a system and I did that. I was actually delighted with it too."

"The defensive side of it worked well, but the pass and move side was only in flashes."

"We played against a good side and I think we're a little bit further up the road to be honest."
