ASUS is scheduled to introduce its very first Android Wear smartwatch this September. According to one source from one Taiwanese source, Asus CEO Jerry Shen recently said that the company could showcase the smartwatch at IFA 2014 in Berlin, which is going to happen from September 5-10.

In the earlier reports, the first ASUS smartwatch was well received by Google after being mentioned as one of its official partners, apart from Samsung, LG, and HTC. ASUS CEO Jerry Shen believes that the ASUS smartwatch looks better compared to the wearables from other manufacturers.

In addition, the cost of the ASUS smartwatch will be more attractive. According to leaked reports, the device may cost between $99 and $149, whereas the Android Wear smartwatches from Samsung and LG currently cost at least $199.

While the higher ups of ASUS is confident that the company has a great Android Wear product, he doesn’t seem to be give a thought that wearables are ready to become popular gadgets.

"We're dreaming big about the future of wearable devices, but the dream will not come true this year or in the first half of next year, because the market demand has not picked up," declared Shen.

Asus had previously discussed including gesture control on its smartwatch to make up for a smaller screen more suitable to wristborne computing, but this was before Google unveiling of Android Wear. One thing is for certain: almost every major electronics OEM will possibly jump in the Android Wear trend in time for the holidays, if only for fear of being left behind in this new market.

Aside from ASUS, Motorola is also preparing also for the launch of its Moto 360 Android Wear smartwatch in the near future. HTC is expected to unveil its first (yet to be named) smartwatch as well real soon. Therefore, there is much wearable gadgets expected to come out starting this September.
