Last August 10, the Youtube sensation Boyce Avenue, who known for making covers, was nominated for the 2014 Teen Choice Award for "Choice Web Star: Music." category.
According to DigitalJournal.com, Alejandro Manzano chatted about their experience during the event, he said "That was great. It felt awesome. It was the very first year that they introduced the 'web' category, so it was quite the honor to be in the first batch to be nominated".
The band has been the most viewed independent band on Youtube.They garnered 1.46 billion views and they have been were true pioneers of YouTube, started in 2007 by uploading videos of them playing their favorite songs, according to the source. Online users around the world noticed heir distinct cover versions of the songs.
"We were fortunate since we got our start on YouTube in its early stages, and we treat it like a full-time job and responsibility for our fans," he said. "Once that started going well, we were working on doing better live shows. The whole thing has kept growing over the last seven years." Alejandro said.
Their current and most popular cover is their version of Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors," where they collaborated with Fifth Harmony.
The band is set to tour cities across North America, New Zealand and Australia in the fall.
"Touring is just our favorite part of this whole industry. It's that one time where you get to engage with the people, and that's the hardcore fans that have been waiting for hours to share that one night. Everybody is there in the same room for the same purpose and it's a magical thing. We are excited to go back to Australia after three years, since we have had an amazing experience there the last time we were there. New Zealand is exciting for us, since we have never played a show there," he added.
Band's plans for the future are to continue releasing more videos on YouTube
"We strive to write more songs and better songs," he said.
He listed "Broken Angel" as his personal favorite songs of theirs from their original music, as well as One Direction's "Story of My Life" as his favorite cover song. "I am really proud of 'Story of My Life' because it was cool to have my brother singing on that track," he said.
