"Guardians of the Galaxy" star Chris Pratt posted an ice bucket challenge video in his Facebook account that reads: "ALS Ice bucket challenge accepted."
The said video was uploaded 6:32pm of August 16 and has already received close to 20,000 likes and 6,000 comments, and more than 32,000 shares.
Pratt was nominated twice. He accepted the dare but decided to make his more unique. According to the video, he did not plan to make use of the ice bucket. The Blue Sky Vodka and the Smirnoff Ice would instead represent the two nominations but he was surprised when from above, he got soaked - and 'chilled' - by tons of ice (and water) courtesy of his wife, Anna Faris, and a friend.
Before the Chris Pratt ice bucket challenge video ends, he calls on his Guardians of the Galaxy co-star Dave Bautista, Everwood co-star Gregory Smith, and Parks and Recreation co-star Nick Offerman to take on the challenge. The question is: Will they accept it? Now, that makes the ice bucket challenge more exciting as fans know they have more videos to look forward to in the coming days (or hours?)
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is not made by celebrities for plain fun. It is in fact a worthwhile 'activity' to raise awareness on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gherig's Disease. With it becoming an online trend, ALS Association has already raised $13.3 million in donations. Portions of this amount were received from 259,505 new donors.
Last year same time period (July 29 to August 17, 2013), the donations only amounted to $1.7 million. ALS Association is grateful to those who participated in the ice bucket challenge, the most recent of which is the Chris Pratt video.
"The ALS Association is thankful for the incredible generosity and spirit of the thousands of people who have accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge," said Barbara Newhouse, President and CEO of The Association. "These dollars will make a difference in propelling The Association's three-prong mission."
