Gina Carano's fight return may not be in the UFC as rival company Bellator FC is in talks with "Conviction" for a possible contract.
In mid-June, the UFC was reportedly going after the retired women's mixed martial arts fighter turned actress, as confirmed by company president Dana White himself.
"One down, one to go," White told ESPN. "I'm going to meet with Gina next week and get that f***ing thing done. "Next week, man. It's just a matter of me and Lorenzo going to jump on a plane to Los Angeles, get in a room with her and her lawyer and get this thing done."
However, the talks between both camps about Gina Carano's fight return have been halted. This, in turn, has given the UFC's rival promotion company Bellator FC to take advantage of the situation and try their luck in signing "Conviction" into their roster.
Former Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, who is now taken the reins over at Bellator, appeared on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour to speak about their immediate plans surrounding Gina Carano's fight return.
"I think that Gina really wants to fight at 135," Coker said. "As far as Cyborg, we haven't talked to her because she is under contract and fighting with Invicta. But if she ever becomes available, then we will have a conversation with her."
Gina Carano last faced Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino in August 2009, wherein she unfortunately lost via first round TKO in the now defunct Strikeforce organization. Now that Coker is with Bellator, he is back at going after Carano, but he admits that it will not be an easy task to sway her towards their direction.
"We don't have a 135 division and I can't say what (Carano) is going to do because she's got film commitments and she is very busy and has a good acting career," Coker continued. "It's going to be up to her and her schedule."
