Mischa Barton Instagram posts led to the discovery of film producers of how the actress was travelling around Europe instead of attending a scheduled film shoot. According to a report from TMZ, the movie producers are suing the former star of "The O.C." for delaying the movie production.
Producers were reportedly not pleased upon seeing Mischa Barton's Instagram vacation photos that the actress posted during the same time that she was supposed to be filming "Promoted", a movie project that cast her as one of the lead stars.
The lawsuit states producers tried to contact Mischa Barton prior to the March 4 shooting date about details including costume sizes.
The actress did not respond, but her mother replied via email on March 3, a day before the scheduled first shooting date. The actress' mom allegedly told film personnel: "Mischa is still in Europe and won't be available until the 20th of this month".
It was then when film producers saw Mischa Barton Instagram photos showing the actress "enjoying tourist excursions with friends", said the TMZ report.
Mischa Barton's failure to attend the movie shoot allegedly "created a snowball effect", as the actor cast as the movie's lead star did not want to work with a different actress.
The lawsuit filed against Mischa Barton demands a total of $320,000 from the former Hollywood It Girl.
According to a Daily Mail report, Mischa Barton's rep said "that information is not correct."
News of the actress' lawsuit filed by producers of the movie "Promoted" follows her recent controversial interview for Metro magazine. In the said magazine feature, Mischa Barton admitted she regrets doing the hit teen TV drama "The O.C.", which shot her to fame a few years ago.
She played the series' lead star Marissa Cooper, and recalled in the Metro feature how having found fame at a young age eventually made her suffer a very public downfall in her early twenties.
When asked if she would do it all again, Mischa Barton admitted to Metro: "probably not", saying how her fast rise to fame made her "depressed and overworked".
