"Divergent" star Theo James recently opened up on what it was really like kissing co-star Shailene Woodley in the film.

James revealed that he basically went all out with the kiss, thinking that that's exactly how Woodley would have wanted it to be, according to Christian Post.

"I just went at it hard, to be honest, because I thought that's how she wanted it. I thought to assuage any awkwardness I would just go for it. She was kind of battling away at my hands," he said.

But just like any onscreen kiss, James and Woodley's infamous kisses didn't happen with just a single take, the same publication noted.

"The kissing scene with Shai and I, we wanted that to be as good as possible. Because it's the only scene where Four and Tris get together, and we wanted it to be real and not just be lots of cheese," he added.

In a separate interview with MTV News, James revealed what it was like meeting Woodley for the first time ever.

"It was fun. She is exactly as Miles said. She is very individual as a person. She has a strong sense of identity, and also had a strong sense of the character and how she wanted to play it. She had a very strong - in a good way - sense of what Four would be in the best possible way. It was actually kind of quite easy," he dished.

With the upcoming second installment "Insurgent," is there a chance for Four and Tris to level up with their relationship?

Obviously, Woodley's character will become more mature, IBTimes noted.

"Now that we've set up the world in the first one, you start with a movie that's full of heart and a lot of action. It's so much bigger and has all these rich themes of trust and betrayal and a love story between two people that you haven't seen in films of this nature before!" James said.
