While Nate Diaz's UFC deal is still being worked on by the company's executives, president Dana White confirmed that a contract for the younger Diaz brother is still far from being finalized.
Nate Diaz's UFC contract is currently on hold, as the younger Diaz brother refused to deal with his company due to fighter pay issues. The former number one lightweight title contender last fought in November 2013 against Gray "The Bully" Maynard, wherein he won via first round TKO.
Since then, the 29-year old Stockton, California native has been demanding for a better end of the deal, particularly for a raise in his fighter pay.
"Bout my money #breakbread till then don't call," the younger Diaz brother said through his Twitter account in late-June.
The UFC responded to Nate Diaz by subsequently taking him off the lightweight top ten rankings due to inactivity. Dana White also fired back by saying that his fighter is "not a needle mover."
"His numbers, he doesn't pull the numbers in. Nick (Diaz) is a needle mover," White said in a report by MMA Fighting. "Nick moves the needle. [Nate] doesn't pull good numbers."
Things may have slightly turned for the better on Saturday night during UFC Fight Night 48 presser in Macau, China, after Dana White confirmed that he is once again in talks with Nate Diaz.
"I took everybody out for the TUF 20 finale," White said. "It was a very, very, very rough night. A lot of damage was done that night. But Nate and I got together that night and talked, and we're going to get together when I get back into the country."
However, Dana White also confirmed that Nate Diaz's UFC contract is still far from being made.
"We'll see what happens," White continued. "You know, we were out having fun, we talked business for a little while. We got together in a room, and where he is and where we are, we're not even close."
