The Baltimore Orioles are really making a name for themselves as they won over Tampa Bay Rays by securing 5 home runs in the game. The Match between two great teams ended in a 9-1 score and it seems like the Orioles had no intention of looking back.
The Orioles lost three games in a row right before they had won against the Rays. Center fielder Adam Jones said "The strength of his team is the ability to forget." Delmon Young, J.J. Hardy and Chris Davis homered in succession during a six-run fifth inning.
Jones added "Something happens, forget it, move on. Its three games. Hip hip hooray. It's not the end of the world." And that is how you move forward from a devastating lost.
Baltimore hit five homers in all against the Rays, four off rookie Jake Odorizzi (9-11). Nick Markakis and Steve Pearce delivered back-to-back shots in the third.
According to Young "It's good because it seemed like y'all went in panic mode when we got swept in Chicago. 'We weren't scoring many runs, but it happens and then we're back in our division at home facing a guy we've seen before, a team we play, we know their tendencies and everything. And we've got better facilities here than Wrigley."
While Hardy commented "All our pitchers have been good. but every fifth day when he takes the mound we feel like we've got a great chance to win."
From the start of the game, Orioles has already been leading at 3-1. But it wasn't just enough as right after that, they pulled out their five home runs which secure the win for the Baltimore's. It was the first time since May 2012 that the Orioles homered in three successive at-bats.
manager Joe Maddon said "Jake has been hit a little bit this year, but he hasn't been hit like that in a long while"
While Odorizzi added "'It was an overall lousy night. I'm frustrated because I feel like I let the guys down. We need every win we can get now and I didn't keep us in the game."
