The 'Justice League' movie is easily one of the most hyped superhero film in recent memory. It has the potential to even outmatch the upcoming Avengers 2: Age of Ultron film. DC is not shy to unleash everything at their disposal, for example, putting in a significant amount of superheroes in just one film.
But is that enough to give them an edge over their rivals? It depends on how the studio uses them. Marvel, for example needs to reinvent some of their storylines like Civil War, as heroes like Spider Man and Wolverine play a significant role in the plot. Warner Bros. will not have that problem.
Who will be included in the official roster?
So far the confirmed members, along with the actors who'll play them are: Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Cyborg (Ray Fisher). and Aquaman (Jason Momoa). As of writing, Warner Bros. has yet to find actors who will play The Flash and Green Lantern which will also have their own movie together.
One very popular character that fans clamor to see is the Martian Manhunter. As Movie Pilot suggests, an actor who can project the enigma of J'onn Jonzz/John Jones is Benedict Cumberbatch. The proposal:
"Cumberbatch can play an amazing detective, as seen by his Emmy award-winning performance as Sherlock Holmes. He also has to feel a bit alien in nature, which he also embodies as Sherlock with his otherworldly presence and intellect. To top it all off, he has one of the most intriguing voices in the industry. This is a superb actor who can be believable as a Martian, but also bend in as a human."
Already having a star-studded line-up, It's highly unlikely that they take an actor with Cumberbatch's caliber (and price tag), who for sure will get a lot less screen time since Martian Manhunter is not the focal character of the film.
"Justice League" has yet to announce its official release date, but there's a strong indication that Warner Bros. targets a 2017 release date.
