Apparently, George Clooney is not too busy with wedding preparations to his fiance Amal Alammudin to plan what his next film project will be. It's just been announced that the next George Clooney movie after this year's Monuments Men will be based on another real life story.
According to Vanity Fair, the story will be based on the book "Hack Attack: The Inside Story of How the Truth Caught Up with Rupert Murdoch." This book, by author Nick Davies was released just last month this year and it is about the phone-hacking issue that erupted and has since been a bane to the various media outlets run by Rupert Murdoch. The book follows the author's efforts to find cause in accusing Ruper Murdoch's media empire and its underhanded news-gathering strategies, which includes, but is not limited to hacking into private phones of famous people to get the inside scoop on various issues.
It's a story that's right up the Ocean's 11 actor's alley, and it's not difficult to see why the actor-director would want this to be the next George Clooney movies. He has recently won a case against a tabloid The Daily Mail that had published false news about him and his fiance Amal Alammudin. Speaking in an interview with Variety, the actor said, "But the thing that bothers me is how much the Daily Mail is now bleeding into American press and becoming a source for some pretty legitimate newspapers. So that's the thing that worries me."
In a recent press release, Clooney shared his thoughts about making the book into a movie: "This [story] has all the elements-lying, corruption, blackmail-at the highest levels of government by the biggest newspaper in London. And the fact that it's true is the best part. Nick is a brave and stubborn reporter and we consider it an honor to put his book to film."
