Nate Diaz news reveals that the younger Diaz brother has drawn the ire of the current 155-pound champion Anthony Pettis. The former lightweight title contender is also feared by UFC heavyweights, according to teammate Gilbert Melendez.
During the past weekend in Sacrament for UFC 177, Anthony Pettis declared his disdain towards the younger Diaz brother during the Q&A session with the fans, which was reported by MMA Fighting.
"I definitely want to kick his ass," Pettis said, referring to Nate Diaz. "Anyone in my weight class, I want to kick his ass. But, he had his chance."
Nate Diaz news reveals that the former lightweight title contender was present during the Ultimate Fighter 20 series, which featured Pettis and current title contender Gilbert Melendez as coaches. Nate Diaz was one of the assistant coaches for the Melendez team.
This was why Pettis was irate, given that both men had been present in the same UFC gym together, but according to "Showtime", Diaz did nothing when he had the chance.
"I was on that show with him seven weeks, and I've seen him every day and every day he didn't say anything," Pettis continued. "Once the show's over, he wanted to talk afterwards, that doesn't matter. He could have said something, he didn't say anything."
Gilbert Melendez later admitted in a separate interview that he had Nate Diaz on board to bring in the "intimidation factor", and for added firepower for his team.
"He was there for me. He was there to back me up," Melendez explained the Nate Diaz news. "That's how Nate is. He didn't want to be on a TV show for six weeks, it is something he wouldn't do for many people. He really stuck to it and he backed me up the whole time."
"El Niño" even went as far as stating that Nate Diaz's intimidation factor affects even the UFC's heavyweights.
"I had Nate Diaz on the show and the intimidation factor is there," Melendez added. "Heavyweights are afraid of Nate Diaz. They're like 'oh s---,' you know what I mean? I brought Nate out there for that."
