Brazilian Star Striker Neymar Captain: Humiliated Players From World Cup Semi To Start Against Columbia Friendly, New Coach Dunga Believes In A Fresh Start. After a humiliating 7-1 defeat in the Brazil World Cup 2014 against the Germans, post World Cup coach Dunga is trying to shake things up at the national side that sported legends like Pele, Zico, Garencha, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Revelinho. Dunga replaces disgraced former Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, who was hoping for a home win riding on the talent of Neymar. But a back injury prevented Neymar from playing in the semi-finals.

Dunga has named Neymar as the captain for the upcoming Columbia friendly. Brazil will be playing their first international after their performance in the Brazil FIFA World Cup, leaving their fans devastated with their poor show.

Most of the criticism facing the Brazilians after Neymar was carried off the pitch was their over-reliance on the superstar, for which Brazilian paid a huge price. It was clear that the new generation of footballers in Brazil played in individual styles and not like the traditional slow attacks of a combined effort as was the case when Pele and recent teams led by 'Socrates' in the 80's.

Coach Dunga is determined to bring back the eight players that felt the pain from the disheartened World Cup 2014 Brazil semifinal: Dunga, who captained Brazil to a 1994 World Cup win was speaking to Miami reporters when he said, "I like hierarchy, and the respect that’s shown to it. First, I'll give a chance to the players who were at the World Cup. Then we'll see about the others.”

Thiago Silva who was the team captain will stay out of the match since he is injured. This will be a repeat performance of the Brazil Columbia 2-1 match that saw a wicked punt to Neymar’s back, giving him a broken vertebrae and keeping him out of the rest of the tournament – one reason attributed to Brazil’s failure in the FIFA World Coup 2014.
