There has been some confusion about who will play the leading roles in the upcoming drama "Pride and Prejudice." At first the male lead was rumored to belong to Daniel Choi, last seen in "Big Man," and the female lead was said to belong to actress Kim Ah Joong, who appeared in the film "200 Pound Beauty."
Now it seems as if the leading male role has been offered to Choi Jin Hyuk, who was last seen in "Fated To Love You." And actress Baek Jin Hee, last seen in "Triangle," is considering the leading female role.
Her agency, Snowball Entertainment, told Newsen that she received an offer from the MBC drama and is positively considering it.
The role she is considering is that of the brilliant and determined prosecutor Han Yeol Moo. The character was a rookie detective before she graduated law school and she's an athlete who is skilled at fighting. She has no qualms about doing the down-and-dirty investigative work that it takes to get at the truth.
Choi Jin Hyuk will play Goo Dong Chi, the chief prosecutor in the Incheon District Prosecutor's Office. He's strongly intuitive and can guess what people are thinking, which comes in handy when solving a case. Choi Jun Hyuk was scheduled to start his military duty as part of the Seoul police force on Aug. 20 but decided to cancel his acceptance and take another role. That means he is now on the list for active duty service, although he does not yet have an enlistment date.
If Choi Jin Hyuk and Baek Jin Hee do take the leading roles in this drama, she will add another attractive male co-star to the list she is acquiring. In the last year along, she starred across Ji Chang Wook in the historical drama "Empress Ki" and JYJ's Kim Jaejoong in the melodrama "Triangle."
This "Pride and Prejudice" is not based on the Jane Austen novel of the same name but it does concern the dangers of pride and the kind of prejudicial thinking that interferes with the pursuit of justice. The prosecutors will have to battle both to get at the truth.
Kim Jin Min, who worked on the drama "Time Between Wolf and Dog" will direct "Pride and Prejudice." Lee Hyun Joo, who wrote "School 2013," will write the drama's screenplay. The Monday-Tuesday drama is scheduled to follow "The Night Watchmen" in October.
