There have been few to no mentions of the "Dead Space 4" release date online. However, new reports claim that the 4th instalment has been confirmed, and is already in development.
In a Kotaku interview, Visceral Games General Manager Steve Papoutsis said:
"Is Dead Space dead? Not for me it's not. I love it, the team at Visceral loves it. Having worked on it for seven years, this was a good break for us to try something different. But there's a lot of passion about that franchise, not just from me but from others in the company, so I think it's an IP that's important for the company. You never know where it's going to go... I'd definitely be excited about what it would be like on this gen."
EA Executive Vice President Patrick Soderlund backed Papoutsis up. In an interview with Polygon, Soderlund reassured fans that a "Dead Space 4" release date is looming, but is being perfected for the next generation.
"Do I think that we will create a Dead Space game again? Yes, I think so. But when we do so, we have to think about what made the previous ones successful and how we go about envisioning Dead Space for a new generation."
The survival horror RPG first made its debut in 2008, and has managed to start a following because of its interesting gameplay.
As Air Herald reported, "The plot of the game involves an Engineer called Isaac using various combat techniques in an abandoned starship that is constantly attacked by aliens. The antagonists of the game include a particular type of species called 'Necromorphs' who share similarities with zombies."
In terms of an actual release date, the makers of "Dead Space" has not made an official announcement as of writing. However, video game junkies are hoping for a 2017 (if not earlier) release date for the new game.
Rumors are already speculating that the new game will be made available on Xbox One and PS4. No confirmation has been made regarding the said rumor.
