Jose Aldo news reveals that UFC featherweight Connor McGregor has fired shots against his division's champion's entire camp. "The Notorious" also questioned the mental toughness of team Nova Uniao and its fighters.
McGregor will be competing this coming weekend at UFC 178 in Las Vegas, against fellow top contender Dustin "The Diamond" Poirier. The Irish fighter's claim to fame is his brash, outspoken demeanor during interviews, and in a recent report by ESPN, McGregor had some things to say about Aldo's Brazil-based camp, Nova Uniao.
"There are definitely problems in that camp," McGregor said. "They've been complaining about money and then injuries back and forth. I feel a weakness in the mind frame of these people, which can go up and down sometimes, so you never know."
Jose Aldo news further reveals "The Notorious'" opinions on the reigning featherweight champion and his training regimens. For McGregor, Aldo may have continued to keep his work rate up, but his skill level has remained the same.
"So many mixed martial artists get into this situation where they stay the same," McGregor continued. "They get to a level and then it's 'maintain'. Spar hard and stay fit, but you're not really growing to that next level."
"You're putting your body through hell and your skill level is remaining the same. And eventually, through battles in the gym and battles in the Octagon, it starts to take a toll, and that is what I believe has happened [to Aldo]."
McGregor also spoke about Aldo's teammate, former bantamweight champion Renan Barao, who failed to face TJ Dillashaw in a would-be rematch at UFC 177 in August.
"That win over Barao with TJ Dillashaw changes the shift in things," McGregor added. "That's a factor. Then you've got the fact Barao missed weight."
Eventually, McGregor's confidence in himself was the main point that got across.
"Ultimately, I don't give a s---," he continued. "I'll whoop both of them."
