Gina Carano's fight deal has been put on hold as the former Strikeforce women's featherweight contender decided to pursue her Hollywood obligations and make two more films before the year ends. This made UFC President Dana White refer to "Conviction" as "the hardest human being they've ever dealt with."
Gina Carano's fight contract with the UFC was close to being made, according to White himself. While the talks to get her signed began in July, the company president promised that the deal would be done before the year ends.
"There's just one more little thing (in the negotiations)," White said during the UFC 177 post-fight media scrum. "It's close, but it'll be done (before the end of the year)."
However, in a report by MMA Fighting, Carano's manager Scott Karp disclosed that his client would be involved in a film entitled "Bus 657", alongside Robert De Niro, Dave Batista, Kate Bosworth and Jefrrey Dean Morgan. Karp added that Carano would also be doing another film in December.
"Carano will play a police officer in pursuit of two men, played by Morgan and Bautista, who attempt to hijack two buses filled with hostages in a casino robbery," veteran reporter Dave Meltzer wrote in his report.
Gina Carano's fight deal would be her potential comeback fight in MMA since her last outing in 2009, under the now-defunct Strikeforce banner. She last faced current Invicta FC combatant Cristianne "Cyborg" Justino, where she lost by first round knockout.
The temporary halt on Gina Carano's fight contract with the UFC had given Dana White major frustrations, as he described "Conviction", which he expressed in his interview with FOX Sports.
"The hardest human being we've ever dealt with and I didn't see it coming," White said. "I don't know, we'll see how these things play out. Just incredibly difficult."
"We've dealt with (Brock) Lesnar, Tito (Ortiz), Chuck (Liddell) was f--king king of the world, Ronda Rousey, we've pretty much done deals with everyone on Earth and she is the hardest f--king athlete we have ever dealt with," he added.
