"The Pyramid" movie offers a unique twist to Egyptian horror with Alexandre Aja's name on it. This time, however, the director of "The Hills Have Eyes" and "Horns" fame gives the directorial post to Gregory Levasseur, as he takes on the responsibility of producer.
According to Screenrant, Gregory Levasseur is known for penning the screenplays of several movies Aja made, among them are "The Hills Have Eyes," "High Tension" and "Mirrors." "The Pyramid" movie is his first time to take on the director's chair.
However, despite the fact that this will be Levasseur's directorial debut, his experience in writing horror films and the guidance of Aja guarantees that the movie will play out well. To start with, it presents a unique take on the mummy horror concept, as shown in the trailer on Youtube.
The plot focuses on a group of characters who explores a newly discovered secret pyramid buried beneath the sand. While they were going through the maze-like interior, they stumble upon the scary realization that the structure was not built to become a tomb, but a prison...
The scares explode in full force as the group discovers an ancient evil that is far from dead. Their ordeal with the unimaginably creepy creature and the man-made dangers present in the pyramid make up the unique horror offered in this movie.
NME added that in the course of their exploration, the characters came to the disturbing realization that being trapped is only secondary to their present dilemma. Their prime concern is to save themselves from the nightmarish hunter (or hunters?) imprisoned in the structure.
James Buckley of "The Inbetweeners" stars in the film, along with Ashley Hinshaw, Dennis O'Hare and Christa Nicola. The secrets of the pyramid will be unleashed on the big screen on December 5, 2014, NME reported.
