Kyrie Irving has been making waves during the recently concluded FIBA World Cup where he bagged the MVP Title after the Team USA won the finals match.
Many has seen the potential within Irving and a couple of years ago, many said that the possibility of Irving becoming the best point guard in the NBA is high. Irving is now up against Chris Paul with regards to that fictional title.
Irving is now playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers where he is playing win hometown favorite, LeBron James. James recently went to Portland to reveal his new LeBron Nike 12 where he showed his admiration for both Kevin Love and Irving during the said event.
He said "I believe Kyrie can be the best point guard in the league very soon, and Kevin Love is already in the discussion as far as being the best power forward in the league. We have so many great [power forwards]: Tim Duncan, if he's playing center or power forward, Dirk Nowitzki, LaMarcus Aldridge, Chris Bosh, Pau Gasol is still very good. But that's my vision, to maximize [Love's] potential, and his potential to be the best at his position."
But aside from talking about Irving and the rest of his team, LeBron was asked about the big three in Cleveland vs. the big three he had left in Miami. "That comparison is going to be brought up because it's good conversation,"
"The Big Three discussion is this whole thing that goes on in our league. It's not new. The Big Three has been going on forever. You had Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain. You had [Larry] Bird, [Kevin] McHale and [Robert] Parish. You had Magic [Johnson], [James] Worthy, Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar]. [Michael] Jordan, [Scottie] Pippen, [Horace] Grant. Jordan, Pippen, [Dennis] Rodman. Jordan, Pippen, [Toni] Kukoc. This Big Three thing has been around forever, like dinosaurs. Going back all the way to [Bill] Russell, [John] Havlicek and Bob Cousy. It's not new, it's just more of a thing now."
Now that all those questions have been addressed, the next question would be how far the big three of the Cavaliers live up to their expectation. It is well to note that Irving and Love has not played for the playoffs before. Aside from that, their new coach David Blatt has quite a handful of experience in international coaching but has not coached for the NBA before.
