A "Fashion Police" update has revealed that NeNe Leakes is being considered to replace Joan Rivers. According to a report from Perez Hilton, the "Real Housewives Of Atlanta" star is supposedly a frontrunner to fill the late comedy icon's post in the hit E! show.

"Fashion Police" recently released an update that the show is confirmed to return after the death of its iconic host, Joan Rivers, last September 4. According to ABC News, the show will return in January 2015 when it covers the Golden Globe Awards.

Now, Perez Hilton reported that NeNe Leakes is allegedly "swaying producers to choose her" to replace Joan Rivers.

An insider also revealed that people behind "Fashion Police" are considering the 46-year-old reality star because she has "serious comedic timing, but also because E! is looking to diversify their panel with a different ethnicity."

The TV personality previously told VH1's The Gossip Table that she is open to leaving "Real Housewives Of Atlanta".

"I'm happy to do some things," NeNe Leakes said. "I don't know if I'm happy to be a full-time Housewife. I will still work for Bravo. We just need to work out some things."

NeNe Leakes added: "I'm in a different place in my life. I personally don't want to go to work every day where you have to be negative. When I wake up every morning and I go off to be negative it just feels like it spills over into my regular life. You become what you work."

An earlier "Fashion Police" update from The Hollywood Reporter revealed that comedienne Kathy Griffin could also possibly replace Joan Rivers.

The 53-year-old is said to be Joan Rivers' protégé, and is considered by many as one of the closest contenders to fill in the hosting post left by the TV icon.

The Hollywood Reporter added that other names - both male and female - are also being considered. The ''Fashion Police" update clarified though that no formal discussions have been made with any of the possible replacements.

E!Online was one of the first to report about Joan Rivers' news about her cardiac arrest. The "Fashion Police" host reportedly stopped breathing during a minor endoscopic procedure at Yorkville Endoscopy medical clinic.

Joan Rivers passed away in September 4. She was 81 years old.
