Conor McGregor news features Dana White's praises towards "The Notorious", as the UFC President claimed that the Irish mixed martial arts superstar is bigger than former champions Brock Lesnar and Georges St-Pierre.
"The Notorious" put on an exceptional performance on Saturday night at UFC 178, after knocking out top five featherweight Dustin "The Diamond" Poirier in the first round, right as he predicted for it to happen.
Dana White himself was also surprised about the pre-fight proclamation made by McGregor, and the victory that happened the exact same manner as predicted instantly turned him into a believer.
"What we saw tonight was that Conor McGregor is for real, he's legit and holy s**t," White said in a post-fight backstage interview with Megan Olivi for UFC Fight Pass. "Wow."
Conor McGregor news also reveals that White was even more surprised by what "The Notorious" was able to do to a fighter of high caliber such as Dustin Poirier.
"Dustin Poirier is awesome and he's one of the best in the world," he continued. "I was saying before the fight, "Why would Conor McGregor say, 'I'm going to finish the No. 5 guy in the world in the first round.' He's setting himself up for failure." Well, goes to show you what I know.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar garnered a huge following after he won the title in 2008. Georges St-Pierre has one of the biggest fan bases in the sport. But for Dana White, "The Notorious" is a bigger name and figure than the two aforementioned fighters.
"He is a force that I have never seen ever," White said in a separate interview. "Bigger than Brock Lesnar when he was here. Bigger than any of the fighters we've ever had. Yes, (he's bigger than Georges St-Pierre). I've never seen anything like this."
