Potterheads all over the world had a heart attack moment when JK Rowling gave out some interesting 'Harry Potter' news!

The beloved author engaged her Twitter followers in a guessing game this week. She tweeted an anagram and challenged fans to decipher it.

"Cry, foe! Run amok! Fa awry! My wand won't tolerate this nonsense," she posted the anagram on Monday.

Potterheads quickly made their own guesses but one particular answer gained popularity (and uproarious approval) from Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook.

One fan threw out, "Harry returns! Wont say any details now. A week off. No comment," creating such an excited reaction from Potter fans online that Rowling had to give out hints just to steer people into the right direction - magizoologist Newt Scamander's story!

She posted, "#helpfulhint The solution is the first sentence of a synopsis of Newt's story. It isn't part of the script, but sets the scene."

She added, "#Hint2 There's only one sentence hidden in the anagram, it is written in natural English and it concerns Newt Scamandar. #3hintsreally."

She also had to correct herself along with posting a third hint, "Typo alert: ScamandEr, not ScamandAr (long day). Now take out 'Newt Scamander' and 'New York' and see what you can make of the rest! #hint3"

Finally, one follower gave the right sentence and the British author was more than a little happy about it.

"Newt Scamander only meant to stay in New York for a few hours..." Twitter user Emily Strong (@EmyBemy2) finally replied with the correct answer which the writer enthusiastically verified.

JK Rowling isn't exactly working on an eighth Harry Potter book but she's currently writing the screenplay for 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' based on the Hogwarts textbook of the same title. The spinoff will feature the adventures of magizoolist Newt Scamander in the 1970s.

'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' will be showing in cinemas on November 18, 2016.

Although it wasn't the Harry Potter news everyone was waiting for, the upcoming spinoff still made Potterheads very excited.

How excited are you for the 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' trilogy?
