You would expect that a best supporting actress Academy Award would mean nothing but success and adulation from adoring audiences. This was not the case with actress Anne Hathaway winning the Oscar for that defining role as Fantine in Les Miserables. What resulted was a cropping up of Anne Hathaway haters, or what has been since known as Hathahaters. The Anne Hathaway movies dwindled since then, and the 31 year old took a break from the limelight, telling Huffington Post that she got the feeling that people "needed a break" from her.

But now, the Oscar award winner is ready to talk about all about the Anne Hathaway backlash of 2013. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar magazine, she recalls how she was on Google researching stories about her for a sketch she was suppose to do for the website Funny or Die, when she saw an article with the headline, "Why Does Everyone Hate Anne Hathaway?" Even with plenty of critically acclaimed and well loved Anne Hathaway movies under her belt, the actress could not help but feel taken aback. "Punched in the gut," "Shocked and slapped and embarrassed," were words the actress used to describe the emotions that welled up. The actress even reveals that the pain is still fresh until now.

"I was in crisis," she continues. "Now I'd be fine. I really would be. I'd let it roll off my back, but at the time I was still partly Fantine. I was still identifying with being a victim." It's true it was her decision to take a break from making movies. But the Anne Hathaway movies hiatus was also partly compelled by directors who were concerned about the audience's perception of her. "I had directors say to me, 'I think you're great. You're perfect for this role, but I don't know how audiences will accept you because of all this stuff, this baggage,'" she shares.

But now the actress has recovered from the crisis she has gone through. "People treated me a certain way. But I've grown from it. This whole thing has made me a way more compassionate and loving person. And I don't feel sorry for myself," she reveals. And now, Anne Hathaway movies are back, and in a big way. The actress will next be seen in the new Christopher Nolan sci-fi flick, Interstellar, out in November. She is also starring opposite Robert de Niro in The Intern.
