How are the Winchester brothers coping with their time apart from each other?
'Supernatural' season 10 brought on comedy, tension, action and intense emotion. Entertainment Weekly even likened it to "one delicious bacon cheeseburger."
Despite leaving viewers in a bundle of nerves with that season nine cliff hanger, the show was still able to turn the seemingly serious issue (Dean turning into the thing he hates the most) into a darkly humorous episode.
The past season had fans thinking that Dean would be going on a killing spree the moment he opens his black eyes, but that's not the case. Instead of lurking in a corner looking for a victim to murder, the newly turned demon is at a roadhouse, getting wasted, banging the waitress and putting on very horrible karaoke performances.
Of course, Sam isn't having as much fun as his older brother. He spends months looking for his missing partner in crime only to find him in a security footage, killing off a demon with the Blade. He also finds out what Dean has become.
Castiel, meanwhile, slowly and painfully grows weaker as his stolen grace runs out. He helps out Hannah in tracking down a couple of rogue angels but ends up killing one of them and getting injured in the process.
In the meantime, Crowley tries to get Dean out of his stump while throwing some hilarious bromantic dialogues along the way. His method includes sending Abaddon supporters for him to kill as well as outing him to Sam.
Fans would think that putting Sam in danger would bring out the protective older brother in Dean. After all, his love for his baby brother has been the most moving theme in the show's nine seasons. In the 'Supernatural' season 10 premiere, however, Dean refuses to save his Sammy.
He does promise to avenge his brother (in a totally 'Taken' moment) but declines to rescue him. Is he abandoning his brother?
With a new mysterious cast member that could either help the brothers reunite or divide them further, this season looks to be another tough battle for the Winchesters - this time without each other to lean on for support.
Will Sam really let his brother go just as Dean asked him to? How will Dean and Crowley's awkwardly entertaining bromance progress? Does Castiel have to kill another angel to replenish his dwindling grace?
