Fans will get to see more of the battle between the Lycans and Vampires, for they would be treated to not just one but two new "Underworld" movies and TV series.
Collider said that producer Len Wiseman announced that the "Underworld 5" movie with Theo James in the lead, is not the only franchise they are currently producing. He said that there would be two "Underworld" movies and TV series.
For the second movie, he said that they might be developing it with Kate Beckinsale reprising her role as Selene. However, he did not mention any candidates for the TV series' characters.
First Showing reported that the film with Theo James's David character as focus is more of a reboot than a sequel. Avid followers of the franchises may remember his introduction in the previous "Underworld: Awakening," as Selene's sidekick during her struggle to get her hybrid daughter back.
Because there will be two "Underworld" movies and TV series, could it be possible that Selene will take the lead in the other flick? As mentioned earlier, Wiseman hinted at this possibility, and to this, First Showing added that it might include her daughter, too.
But who will be starring in the TV series: Theo James or Kate Beckinsale or both? Or would the studio opt to take in new actors and actresses to portray new characters?
As of this point, Wiseman has not yet revealed anything about the planned TV series. Instead, he gave a general statement about what fans can expect from the "Underworld" franchise.
His exact quote featured on First Showing, said:
"There's a few things being developed right now. "There are some characters who we really liked that will be in a kind of a spin-off like we did with Rise of the Lycans, then we have another film in the works with Kate [Beckinsale] as well." That's interesting. Maybe the film developing with Theo James is just a spin-off and there's one more sequel with Beckinsale involved. Or maybe Beckinsale will just have a small role in the developing sequel and she will pass the torch to her daughter. It's tough to say, but expect plenty more Underworld down the road, and then there's a television series."
