As Holly Holm's UFC debut approaches, "The Preacher's Daughter" is already primed for her maiden Octagon bout. The former women's boxing champion also declared that she is ready to face Ronda Rousey any time.
Holly Holm's UFC debut is scheduled against former Invicta Fighting Championships combatant, Raquel Pennington. The fight is slated for UFC 181 on December 6th, in Las Vegas.
Holm is no stranger to combat sports. She holds a 33-2 professional boxing record, and a 2-1 kickboxing record, prior to her mixed martial arts career. As she faces Pennington, Holm admitted that while she still needs to sharpen up her skills, she feels that she is ready to make her debut on MMA's biggest stage.
"I have been boxing forever, and my jab needs so much work," Holm said in a report by MMA Fighting. "I'm constantly learning, I never feel like yes I'm ready. However, if you give me a fight, I'm going to believe in myself."
Holly Holm's UFC debut will be her eighth fight as a professional mixed martial arts fighter. She is currently undefeated, but despite that, she still feels that she needs more time to further hone her abilities.
"I'm never the one who makes the call," Holm said. "I always want more time, because I'm never going to be perfect. There's always time."
When Holly Holm's UFC debut was announced in July, she was believed to have the ability to give reigning champion Ronda Rousey a challenge. When asked about the possibility of facing "Rowdy", Holm did admit that she too is anxious about the possible match-up.
"If they throw me in with Ronda, awesome," she confidently said.
"The Preacher's" Daughter", however is not looking past her task at hand. But she also admitted that she would be keeping an eye on the reigning champion.
"I just want one fight at a time for right now," Holm continued. "I don't want to look too far ahead, I have Raquel Pennington in front of me, but always make sure I watch Ronda's fights though, don't get me wrong."
