He's best known of course for playing Thor in the Avengers movie, but fans of the actor will be happy that that they don't have to wait too long for Avengers 2 in order to see Chris Hemsworth again on the big screen! The trailer for the new Chris Hemsworth movie just dropped today, and we see him sans hammer and aboard a whaling ship!

The Thor star plays a sailor on a ship that is being actively pursued by a sperm whale, causing the crew to be adrift at sea for 90 days! This is a new movie from director Ron Howard (Captain Philips, Apollo 13) and it is the same sperm whale that was the inspiration behind the classic tale "Moby Dick" by Herman Melville. The official synopsis of this new Chris Hemsworth movie goes like this"

"In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. "Heart of the Sea" reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down."

Aside from this harrowing sea adventure, the 31 year old actor will be seen in several film projects this 2015. He will also be starring in a Michael Mann film called Blackhat, Vacation, and of course, the much awaited Avengers: Age of Ultron. It looks like we're going to see plenty of Chris Hemsworth movies next year!

In The Heart Of The Sea opens on March 15, 2015. Catch the trailer here:
