So has Samsung taken over the same techniques as Sony? Samsung is back and eyeing on the throne with a down version on Galaxy S5 Mini, its latest flagship. How do these two-pint sized outlooks each other? Here go all the answers
Design
Both Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 mini has almost the same design. It has the same faux-metallic edging and mottled plastic back cover, at fairly 1 x 64.8 x 9.1mm and 120g it's fairly and light, living up to the same brand name.
While the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact definitely has better design, because of the real metal edge around and a glass rear cover, for it is more angular than Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and looks more elegant.
The glass and metal materials are costly though, as it is heavier than the usual plastic casing. The weight of the Sony Xperia Z1 is 137 g. It is also slightly thicker, measurement is 127x64.9x9.5 mm. It is worthless that both Xperia Z1 and S5 mini are water resistant and dust resistant, with IP58 and IP67 each certifications.
Screen
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini has Amoled screen with 4.5 inch screen size, promoting the definition of "mini." Well, the good news is that with that decent 720x1280 resolution with that large screen size, for 326 pixels per inch density. On the other hand, the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact has a smaller screen at 4.3-inch IPS LCD display, however, it has the similar 720 x1280 resolution, so its pixel density is marginally greater 342 pixel per inch. That is possibly to be a noticeable disparity and both are among the best that consumers may search when looking for smaller size phone.
Power
Both Xperia Z1 Compact and Galaxy S5 Mini both operate in quad-core, so they may seem short on power; however there are some enough differences between them. The S5 Mini has its own brand 1.5 GB of RAM AND 1.4 GHz quad core processor, while the Xperia Z1 Compact has a 2.2 GHx quad core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM, so in spite being older it should still be the more powerful.
