Conor McGregor news reveals Chael Sonnen's praises for "The Notorious" for the latter's self-promotion skills. "The American Gangster" also does not mind the Irishman's use of the exact same strategy that he did when he was fighting.

Both Sonnen and McGregor share the same penchant for stirring up a buzz prior to their respective fights. "The American Gangster" was successful with such methods, as he was able to draw the ire of the entire country of Brazil when he fought Anderson Silva twice in 2010 and 2012, and he was able to take his way to a title shot against Jon Jones in 2013.

Conor McGregor news reveals the verbal pat on the back Sonnen gave "The Notorious" for his methods, particularly pointing out the post-fight interview the Irishman gave after his UFC 178 bout, where he showed up on camera with a UFC belt in front of him.

"Conor McGregor showed up recently with a belt and a lot of people are saying, 'That was ridiculous.' Well, a lot of other people thought he was the champ," Sonnen explained in his own podcast entitled You're Welcome. "A lot of people didn't know he was just showing up with the belt, a lot of people were just tuning in."

Conor McGregor news also reveals that Chael Sonnen pulled the same stunt in an interview with Dan Le Batard for his show called "Highly Questionable". But for "The American Gangster", it was not as much of a "rip-off" as it was a mere strategy.

"I can't remember who else did that, maybe that one was an original, maybe I came up with that one on my own," Sonnen continued. "But so what? We're all stealing each other's ideas, that's what the world is. We don't need to go out there and create new things. Not everything is a new recipe."

"Whether Conor McGregor's grabbing something that I used to do, or I'm grabbing something that somebody else used to do - if something works you go out there and you take from it," he added. "You don't sit back and criticize it."
