Brock Lesnar's UFC return will not be happening according to Shane Carwin. However, the former UFC interim heavyweight champion promises a return to mixed martial arts competition if the current World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star decides to face him in the Octagon.

Brock Lesnar's UFC stint ended in 2011, after being a first round knockout defeat in the hands of Alistair Overeem. Since then, he opted to return to professional wrestling signed under the WWE, where he is still actively competing.

While many people, including WWE legendary commentator Jim Ross, were optimistic about Brock Lesnar's UFC return, one of the fighter's former adversaries is not holding his breath for it. Former interim champion Shane Carwin, who faced Lesnar for the title in 2010 at UFC 116, spoke about the matter in an interview with FOX Sports.

"He's not coming back," Carwin said. "I don't even know why he would have the desire."

"He's not going to improve the part of his game he needs to improve in that short (amount) of time," he added. "The guys these days are too far ahead. You can't be one-dimensional. This isn't the early '90s."

Shane Carwin, who also retired from professional mixed martial arts competition, last fought at UFC 131 in 2011, where another former champion, Junior Dos Santos, convincingly defeated him. He is still currently involved in the fight business, but as a co-owner of a regional MMA promotion company, Prize Fighting Championships.

The former interim champion lost to Lesnar when the two fought for the title three years ago. But for Carwin, getting another crack the former undisputed champ is something he still fancies.

"I'm all in," Carwin confidently said. "All the pain would be worth that."

The 39-year old former fighter also revealed his plan if the rematch does happen, mainly based on what happened in their previous encounter.

"I should have let him up and kept punching him in the head," he said. "Lesson learned. Cain learned it. If I didn't make it obvious what to do to that guy, the next guy did."
