"The Hunger Games" film came from the book written by Suzanne Collins with the same title. Amanda Craig, a novelist and children's fiction critic, said of "The Hunger Games": "Appeals equally to boys as to girls ... the stunning action sequences and the cleverness of concept and execution give this a haunting philosophical complexity and make it my book of the year."
Jennifer Lawrence, who played the lead character, admitted that she found the role intimidating because "she was already in the minds of so many different people. I'm playing a character that most people have already seen in their mind. That's scary."
She said that she did free running for agility, archery, climbing, combat, and yoga" to be able to play Katniss. She added that an Olympian trained her for archery.
