The Los Angeles Times reported that Taylor Swift's '1989' sales Billboard released the figures for the total sales of Swift's pop album for the first week. It was reported that the new album is nearing its 1.2 million sales for the first week alone.
Swift's "Red" album capped a 1.21 million copies sold in its first week of release in stores in 2012.
Taylor Swift's '1989' sales for first week are tallied in totality on midnight, Sunday, November 2nd, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Fans can expect Nielsen Sounds can to release the total number of '1989' copies sold for the first week either on Tuesday evening or on Wednesday. Nielsen usually releases exceptional number of album sales the day before the actual reporting. So, most likely, Nielsen will release the update for this by Tuesday evening.
The number of copies sold for '1989', as tallied by Nielsen Sounds, would be excluding the number of copies sold for the album in Microsoft for 99 cents. This deal from Microsoft is part of its Music Deals App. The music Deals App will be replacing Microsoft Xbox Music free streaming service by December this year, as reported by Billboard via The Los Angeles Times.
The Los Angeles Times also reported that Billboard considers only albums worth $3.99 or above when tallying the total number of copies sold for a particular album.
