Conor McGregor news reveals Lyoto "the Dragon" Machida" defying his fellow Brazilians as he joined in to show support for "The Notorious," noting that the Irish mixed martial arts overnight superstar "has to be respected."
The 26-year old McGregor has become an instant noisemaker in today's mixed martial arts scene through his brash personality and outspoken character. He has often times criticized his competitors by belittling their skills and predicting the rounds he would finish them.
He is also known for pulling controversial antics, such as posing with a UFC belt and calling himself a world champion.
While a huge chunk of spectators have become fans of "The Notorious," a lot of them are staunch critics as well. During his appearance at the UFC 179 festivities in Brazil, he was not warmly received by the rabid Brazilian fans that were all rooting for their lone champion, Jose Aldo.
Conor McGregor news reveals that former light heavyweight champion Lyoto "the Dragon" Machida has contradicted his fellow Brazilians about "the Notorious". For "The Dragon," there is nothing wrong with how the young Irish fighter is portraying himself.
"He can promote himself the way he wants," Machida said in an interview with MMA Fighting. "I don't see (McGregor) as a bad person."
Machida has always been known as a respectful fighter who does his talking inside the Octagon. Given his Shotokan Karate upbringing, "The Dragon" never spoke ill about any of his opponents in anyway.
"It's not my style to talk trash to my opponents," Machida explained. "I have techniques to get (to a title fight) in a way that I think it's the right way. If you win fights convincingly, it makes it easier."
Conor McGregor news also reveals that "The Dragon" continuously defended "The Notorious'" manner of self-promotion, adding that he should be respected.
"He's right, he's promoting himself this way, and we have to respect him," Machida said.
