Two of the fastest rising young stars in Hollywood have starred in two blockbuster hits together. Is it any wonder then that people are speculating (or maybe more of hoping!) that there is more than just a professional relationship between them? Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, it will be recalled first starred in the young adult movie adaption Divergent which quickly became a box office hit. They followed it up with a dramatic turn in another young adult novel adaptation, this time the weepy novel The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, which cemented their mark on stardom.
Yet Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort have flatly denied the rumors that they are anything more than friends or co-stars. During Deadline's The Contenders panel held at the DGA Theater on Satuday in Los Angeles, the young actress was asked about her movie The Fault In Our Stars and a possible more than friendship feeling with co-actor Ansel Elgort. The 22 year old noted, "We went from brother and sister to lovers and now we're back in the brother-sister game," Shailene. It will be recalled that in the Divergent franchise, the pair play brother and sister.
The actress elaborated on this unique dynamic during a previous interview, a live stream press conference for Yahoo. From the interview, we find out that it helped a lot for Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort to start from being "siblings" to being lovers in another movie. "It wasn't that weird because I've always sort of wondered what it'd be like kissing my brother," she joked at first. But then added."There's something really beautiful about working with someone and working with them again and again and again, because the more you get to know somebody on a personal level, the more free you feel artistically," Shailene shared.
"I think that if Ansel and I hadn't known each other from Divergent, our relationship in this movie would not be what it is, because we didn't have to go through the rehearsal phase of getting to know one another, becoming comfortable with one another," she continued.
