Roy Jones Jr. news reveals "Captain Hook" claiming that the UFC did not allow his supposed super fight against former long-time middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The four-division boxing champion also sees a successful comeback for "The Spider."
As early as January of this year, news about a potential boxing match between Jones Jr. and Silva have surfaced. For "The Spider", it was a chance to explore another realm of combat once his body can no longer meet the grueling standards of mixed martial arts training.
Roy Jones Jr. news reports that the future boxing Hall-of-Famer also holds Anderson Silva in high regard, and was also looking forward to their potential "dream match-up."
"Anderson Silva is one of the best human beings I've ever met. He's a wonderful friend, a wonderful person," Jones Jr. said of Silva in an interview with MMA Fight Corner. "A person, who like myself, when we succeed at something we want to try something else if we can. We want to see how far we can go. We want to test the skies to see if the sky the limit."
However, "Captain Hook" claims that the UFC did not allow the super fight to happen, which he feels was a disservice to all fight fans.
"But on his downside, the UFC won't allow him to fulfill his dream and get in the ring and enjoy a night of sharing the ring with the great Roy Jones, Jr. It's such a pity," Jones said. "It's such a shame because it's a night that I'm sure people from both worlds would really admire, and would love to see, and would get a lot from because of two legends in the ring at once."
Roy Jones Jr. news also reveals that despite the disappointment, the boxing legend believes that Anderson Silva's post-injury return will be a big success.
"We fighters can't think that we have the mentality of a fighter, we are fighters. So, there's nothing that's supposed to get in our way that we see as defeat," Jones continued. "Nothing's supposed to be a fear that we can't overcome. And that's same case with him. He's a fighter so he knows how to overcome anything possible."
