Mark Munoz's next fight has been given a temporary immediate date, as "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" targets to get back into action in February 2015, specifically for the UFC 184 fight card.
The announcement regarding Mark Munoz's next fight was made by the fighter himself, as he sat down for an interview with Bleacher Report.
"I'm giving my body time to heal up," Munoz said. "It just needed time, and I've been beating it up a lot over the years. People say I train like a madman and don't give myself enough time to recover."
"I had to give my body time to rest, and that's what I did," he continue. "I'm feeling great right now and working on getting everything back to fighting again."
Prior to Mark Munoz's next fight, "The Filipino Flash" last saw action in May, against former Strikeforce champion Gegard Mousasi. Unfortunately for him, he lost the bout via first round submission, marking his second consecutive loss in the UFC.
After being sidelined for a while since his last fight, Munoz has been busy with an endeavor he claims he loves the most - wrestling. The former NCAA Division I wrestler serves as an instructor at Orange County's Reign MMA, as well as being an advocate for anti-bullying programs in the US.
For Munoz, being involved in such activities is his way of giving back to the wrestling community.
"Wrestling has always been a high priority in my life, and I definitely want to give back to the wrestling community," Munoz explained. "This is something I plan on doing for a very long time.
While no final schedule has been mapped out for Mark Munoz's next fight, "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" has his sights sets on being a part of the UFC 184 card in Los Angeles, headlined by middleweight champion Chris Weidman and challenger Vitor Belfort.
"I would love to get on the card in Los Angeles," Munoz exclaimed. "The event is being held at the Staples Center and taking place at the end of February, which is when I'm looking to get back inside the Octagon. That is the time frame and window I'm shooting for, but we'll have to see how everything works out."
