The latest Los Angeles Lakers news and rumors are floating the name of Rajon Rondo again as the team is supposedly gunning for the Boston Celtics point guard. Meanwhile, an analyst weighed in on the future of Jeremy Lin on the purple and gold.
Anthony Irwin of Rant Sports gave his opinion on the latest Los Angeles Lakers news and rumors involving Rajon Rondo as he said that it makes very good sense for everybody.
"In basketball terms, Rondo makes some sense. He epitomizes the pass-first point guard who would work alongside Kobe Bryant," he wrote. "He's also stubborn enough to not get intimidated when Kobe demands the ball late in games."
The pass-first point guard will also improve the Lakers defense, which is dead last this season, with his length and nose for the ball.
But this would only make sense if the Lakers will acquire Rajon Rondo via free agency in order not to sacrifice their future. In an earlier report, the Boston Celtics wanted Julius Randle in a trade for their all-star point guard.
"Add an elite talent like Rondo to a desperate Kobe and a player with Randle's future ... and the Lakers all of a sudden don't appear in shambles like some would hope," he wrote.
Meanwhile, in other Los Angeles Lakers news and rumors, David Murphy of Bleacher Report said that Jeremy Lin is just a shadow of himself during the Linsanity era with the New York Knicks.
This season, the former Houston Rockets point guard averaged 10.8 points and five assists and while those are not horrid numbers, "they also don't measure up to the 14.6 points and 6.2 dimes he delivered with the Knicks."
"Is the first-year Laker a legitimate building block for the future? Can he be counted on to step into the giant vacuum that will remain once a longtime superstar finally exits stage left?" Murphy asked.
"Lin has all but been handed the keys to the city. Now it's time to pay it forward," he added.
