Kevin Hravick succeeded in winning first place in the Kansas Race and though he was not part of the commotion that happened between Jeff Gordon and Brad Keselowski, he might have had a hand in escalating it.
The race ruckus happened when Keselowski's move to pass Gordon entering turn one on lap 336 of the 341 lap race. Keselowski moved to the middle of the track to go inside Gordon, who restarted on the outside line in second, and the outside of Jimmie Johnson, the race leader. As Keselowski moved to the open space, Gordon came down, and the two drivers slammed into each other.
An irritated Gordon confronted Keselowski but it was when Harvick shoved Keselowski where the punches came flying around. The fight was witnessed by NASCAR officials in the middle of crew members and others around Keselowski's No. 2 car.
Jeff Gordon has left the even with a cut on his lip while his fierce competitor Brad Keselowski had a puffy face to look at with him rinsing it off with water to wash away the blood from his mouth.
Days after the incident, Hravick has said that he did not regret doing what he did that day. He said "I never look back on something as a regret. 'I think you look back on them as lessons."
But Harvick admitted that he loved the drama that the fight has amassed but did not want to to one day explain his actions to his son.
He said "You guys know, I love the controversy. In the end, the difficult part for me is to go home and realize one day you're going to have to answer those questions to your son."
On the other hand, Keselowski has not talked about the incident that happened that day and admitted that he did not pay attention to the talks right after.
He lamented "I can't spend all my time worrying about the other people. I have to worry about winning this weekend, this race, and this championship. That's where my focus is and will continue to be."
He adds "A lot of these conversations and a lot of these talking points are meant to serve as a distraction, so to sit here and really comment on a lot of them would really be to justify them. I know the things that I'm doing are the right things."
