Manny Pacquiao's next fight challenger Chris Algieri claims he had foreseen a knockout victory over "Pacman" through a series of dreams. The former WBO light welterweight champion also gave his reaction on the WBO's decision of stripping him of his title.
Manny Pacquiao's next fight against Chris Algieri will be taking place on November 22nd at the Cotai Arena in Macau, China. It will be Algieri's first fight outside the United States, and at welterweight, as well.
The 30-year old boxer out of Huntington, New York currently holds an undefeated win-loss slate of 20-0, and as he prepares himself for the biggest fight of his career, he has been showing an air of confidence, so far. He even went as far as claiming that he had foreseen himself winning by knockout through a dream he previously had.
"I have dreams about it, I think about it, I visualize it, and now I'm seeing the end of the fight in a lot of ways, but every ways with my hands up." Algieri told Marcos Villegas of Fight Hub TV regarding Manny Pacquiao's next fight. "There's been dreams of knockouts."
Prior to facing "Pacman," Algieri had been involved in a barnburner of a fight against knockout artist Ruslan Provodnikov in June, wherein he fought through two first round knockdowns and a swollen right eye, en route to winning the WBO light welterweight title.
However, as he was slated to challenge Pacquiao's welterweight title at 147-pounds, the WBO then decided to strip him of his 140-pound belt. For boxing pundits, it was a controversial move by the WBO, to say the least.
But for Algieri himself, there is no other choice but to take the issue with a grain of salt and move on to the tough task ahead of him.
"I'm really focused on what's in front of me, and right now, the goal is to win the WBO welterweight title," Algieri said. "In terms of thinking about the past and what's going on with my title, it is what it is. I'm a champion either way.
